World's Most Unusual Sports

,

World's Most Unusual Sports - Are you readdy for this ?

When you get down to the nitty gritty of it, almost every sport is pretty unusual in its way. Soccer (football in England) has strange rules like throw-ins and corners, which when you think about it are really just random and not terribly logical – and the whole thing started with kicking around a pig's bladder. Pretty strange really... And in curling, certainly one of the world's most unusual sports that's well known, it essentially comes down to running and cleaning ice. Odd.
However some sports really do take the biscuit, many of which you probably have never heard of (for some reason they never made it big...). Here we'll look at some of the world's most unusual sports with some of the oddest rules and no doubt competitors.

Chess Boxing:
We'll kick off our list of the world's most unusual sports with what is actually a very interesting idea. 'Chess boxing' of course aims to combine intellect and brawn, and to test its competitor's physical and mental prowess. Essentially the game is exactly what it sounds like and involves five bouts of boxing and six rounds of chess and you can can win either in the ring or on the board by getting a knock out or check mate. Interesting to see whether the competitors' chess skills deteriorate as they lose brain cells in the ring...

Man Versus Horse:
Another highly imaginative name for one of the world's most unusual sports. This time, as the name suggests, the competitors have to race horses on foot. Of course the man is able to use his agility and dexterity and run through forests and difficult terrain whereas the horse has its speed advantage but must travel around such obstacles. Interestingly the race, set in Wales, was won for the first time by a marine.
Toe Wrestling:
Remember thumb wars? Well apparently toe wars is just as popular – and more so in fact as it is now an international competitive sport. Amazingly the organisers tried to get it into the Olympics which would have been certainly one of the world's weirdest sports to make it into the competition. Weirdly, it never made it in.
Buzkashi:
Buzkashi may be the national sport of Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan, but to anyone else it certainly appears to be one of the world's most unusual sports and certainly one of the goriest. Essentially this is a nice game of polo with horse riders hitting an object towards a goal. However here instead they have to get a headless goat into the goal by throwing it and passing it between players. Of course.
 Cheese Chasing:
Cheese chasing or cheese rolling is certainly one of the world's most unusual sports and probably the only one that involves running after a huge wheel of cheese down a steep hill. As well as being one of the world's most unusual sports, it's also one of the most dangerous as many people fall down the hill resulting in broken limbs and other injuries. And the prize? The object they were chasing after and ten minutes of fame. Say cheese!
Underwater Rugby:
Rugby too boring for you? Then try underwater rugby – probably one of the world's most  unusual sports that take place under water. Here you basically play rugby with a weighted ball underwater, only the tactics are largely changed due to the greater freedom of movement – that is to say, there aren't really any.

Underwater Hockey:
Reading that last one you might be wondering what other sports count as the world's most unusual sports to take place underwater. Well how about underwater hockey? Also known as 'octopush', in which the hockey sticks are only a few inches long. Surprisingly popular in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and South Africa for such a weird sport (though you're unlikely to catch it on television even here).
